I was watching Nate and Graham’s Opening Playbook today.
These guys give so much of their time just to try and help traders orient themselves in these crazy markets, and I really appreciate their insights.
Nate made a point that I think is really valuable.
He admitted, we can’t really know where “the bottom” is, if it even exists at this point. There are too many uncertainties, too many question marks about what’s next with tariffs and the economy.
But he added, you can’t really go wrong buying stocks you’ve wanted to own anyway at a 10% discount.
For example, he said he would have been happy to buy NVDA at $120, so why wouldn’t he buy it at $105?
The same is true for META, WMT, APPL, etc…
And it’s a really good point.
Think about it like this:
If you had been dreaming about buying a new iPad for months, and suddenly saw it at a 20% discount, would you wait to buy it, just in case it dropped to 30% off sometime in the future?
Probably not. You’re going to jump when you see it on sale.
Well, it might not have been as fun a road to get there in this case, but these stocks are essentially “on sale” if you believe we’ll return to all-time highs at any point in the future (and truth is, whether it takes two months or two years, we inevitably will).
And if these stocks are paying out dividends on top of that? Even better!
In fact, there are plenty of ways to put stocks you own to work for you, whether they offer dividends or not. But they aren’t doing anything if they’re not in your portfolio.
So it’s a good reminder:
Maybe you don’t have 100% confidence in what the markets do next — how could you?
But from a portfolio approach, there’s nothing wrong with starting to add some stocks to your holdings, because the stocks are essentially “on sale.”
Hope that gives you some confidence to trade and invest this week.
To your prosperity,
