The phrase “never say never” just took on a whole new level of meaning.
Yesterday, the Vatican announced that they’d elected a new Pope, and that he was an American from Chicago.
I’m not even Catholic, but my entire life, I felt certain the one thing I’d never see is an American Pope.
“Never say never” indeed.
Now, onto the markets.
Nothing is moving a ton today, despite President Trump’s new offer that tariffs on China might drop to as low as 80%:
It’s not the most fun trading environment when it feels like every day we are just waiting on the latest news from Washington.
But the markets seem resilient right now — nothing seems to be able to shock them too much lower.
Earnings continue next week, although there aren’t a ton of big names out there.
I’ll be interested to watch JD and Honda (HMC) on Tuesday morning in light of all the tariff news.
Enjoy your weekend! I’m still recovering from being under the weather, so I’m hoping I shake it all off by tomorrow.
To your prosperity,
Stephen Ground
