Every trader has their go-to tools, and for me, one of the most reliable is my Market Roadmap Line (MRM). It’s not magic, but it’s close. This line — based on the 144-day exponential moving average — is a powerful indicator for spotting support and resistance levels across different timeframes. It’s helped me navigate choppy markets, identify high-probability setups, and keep trades on the right side of the trend.
So, what makes the MRM so special? Let’s break it down.
The Basics: What Is the Market Roadmap Line?
The MRM isn’t just a random moving average. It’s a dynamic tool that adapts to the market, helping identify critical inflection points. I use it across multiple timeframes, from the 15-minute to the daily charts, depending on the context. For example, on shorter timeframes, it can highlight immediate support or resistance, while on a daily chart, it provides a broader view of long-term trends.
If you’re new to this concept, I’ve pinned a video to my channel homepage that explains everything — including the code for setting it up. There’s also an easy button to add it to your charts — it’s all in the video description.
Let’s look at recent market action…
The S&P 500 has been grinding higher, with the MRM acting as a critical support level on the 15-minute chart. It’s been holding up well, but the market doesn’t always make it easy. While the 15-minute chart shows support, we could see a retest of the 30-minute or even higher timeframes, depending on how the day unfolds. If those levels fail, the daily chart might come into play — but we haven’t touched that since August.
This flexibility is why I love the MRM — it works across all timeframes.
However, it’s important to know which timeframe aligns with your trading goals. For quick trades, shorter charts like the 15-minute or 30-minute are ideal. For swing or longer-term positions, the daily chart provides better guidance.
The MRM isn’t a crystal ball, but it’s a reliable guide for navigating market uncertainty. Whether you’re trading indices, commodities, or individual stocks, understanding support and resistance on multiple timeframes is key. And remember — like all tools, it works best when combined with sound risk management and a clear strategy.
