Amazon’s Quiet Bet on Nuclear Power

by | Jun 10, 2025

Hey folks,

There’s a big story flying under the radar right now — and I think it could have huge implications not just for the energy sector, but for the entire tech world.

Amazon is building new data centers near nuclear power plants.

Why? Because AWS — Amazon’s cloud platform — is power-hungry. And it’s only getting hungrier.

With the explosion of artificial intelligence, cloud computing demand has gone through the roof.

AI doesn’t run on magic — it runs on chips, fans, and it needs a near endless stream of electricity.

So Amazon’s solution? Put the servers next to the reactors. Literally.

They’ve announced projects in both Pennsylvania and North Carolina that will run AWS infrastructure directly off nuclear-generated power.

No middlemen. No grid bottlenecks. Just pure, always-on energy.

That tells me two things.

First — they’re serious. Amazon’s not dipping a toe here. They’re betting nuclear’s going to be part of the long-term answer to AI’s energy problem.

And second — if one company’s doing this, you can bet others will follow.

That could open the door for growth in a space most investors have ignored for decades.

Nuclear was left for dead after the Fukushima disaster in 2011… but if the biggest cloud providers are turning to it now, that story might be changing.

I just covered this and more in my free bi-weekly Market Radar session:
