There’s a lot more happening with Tesla (TSLA) than most people realize — and I’m not talking about its next earnings report.

Recently, TSLA got approved to convert its $2 billion stake in xAI into SpaceX shares. These aren’t the publicly listed shares SpaceX may eventually sell. They’re privately held shares based on an early valuation, which means they won’t count toward the huge batch SpaceX is looking to unload later.

And here’s where things get interesting. This move feels like part of a broader setup — I believe TSLA may be positioning itself to eventually absorb SpaceX. It sounds wild, but the pieces are starting to line up.

The Distributed Computing Play That Changes Everything

TSLA is exploring the rollout of compute at all of its charging stations, tapping into roughly seven terawatts of idle power. The idea is simple but massive — turn this unused power into a distributed data center for AI computing.

TSLA also has about 2 million AI-capable vehicles already on the road, and those cars sit idle about 80% of the time. The company is considering using that downtime to run compute jobs while vehicles are parked, and they may even share revenue with participating owners.

When you put this all together, it becomes clear they’re building something beyond traditional infrastructure. They’re constructing a decentralized AI network powered by assets that already exist.

This isn’t a side project — it’s the kind of play that positions TSLA as a backbone of global compute. And if it pulls it off, it places it in the same tier as major cloud operators…

Except without the need to build new data centers from scratch.

How This Could Tie Into a SpaceX Fusion

Now here’s where the speculation gets bold. If TSLA can scale this distributed compute network and elevate the company’s valuation, it could set up a future scenario where TSLA has the leverage — and shareholder support — to roll SpaceX into the company.

The potential synergy is enormous. SpaceX operates the world’s largest satellite network, and TSLA may be building what could become one of the world’s largest distributed AI compute systems.

Combined, that would create an integrated terrestrial and orbital tech infrastructure unlike anything else.

From a technical standpoint, TSLA’s stock is still pressing against the bottom side of resistance with the series of lower highs continuing. There’s still room for a drop to around $370 to test support. But a break of the downtrend opens the door to $500 to $550 and maybe even $600.

My wild card scenario: TSLA makes a big rally, tops out at a crazy high, then comes all the way back down near $200. If that happens, it could create the perfect window for TSLA to fold SpaceX into the company.

Far-fetched? Maybe. But when you connect the dots, the strategy emerging here is anything but random.
