How to Protect Yourself from Fake Trading Gurus and Scam Accounts

by | Feb 7, 2025

Scammers are everywhere in trading — fake accounts, shady “gurus,” and people promising easy money. If you trade, you’ve probably seen them. Maybe you’ve even gotten a direct message from someone pretending to be a well-known trader. They copy real accounts, steal content, and trick people into thinking they’re legit.

I’ll keep it simple — if someone is reaching out to you first, it’s probably a scam.

How to Spot a Fake

Scammers thrive on impersonation. They use slightly altered usernames, stolen profile pictures, and fake links that look real at a glance. If you’re following a trader, go straight to their official channels. For me, that means YouTube, Discord, and Twitter (or X) — not some random Telegram message.

A few easy ways to spot a scam:

  • They message you first. I don’t send friend requests. I don’t initiate DMs. If someone claiming to be me reaches out, it’s not me.
  • They push “exclusive” investment opportunities. No legit trader is handing out guaranteed profits. If someone says they can turn $500 into $5,000 overnight, they’re lying.
  • They have a suspicious username. Real accounts don’t have extra numbers, weird punctuation, or slight misspellings. If you have to look twice, it’s probably fake.
  • They ask for money. I don’t manage accounts. I don’t ask for deposits. No real trader does.

Where You Can Actually Find Me

I make it easy — if you’re following me, you know where I am. I’m in my Discord every day. I’m live on YouTube. I post in my Telegram and member-only services. Anything outside of that isn’t me.

I also stream my sessions on Twitter (X), Facebook, and LinkedIn. That’s it. No mystery, no side channels. If you ever have doubts, check my official accounts.

The bottom line is trading is hard enough without scammers trying to steal from you. Stay sharp. If someone reaches out first, assume they’re fake. If an offer sounds too good to be true, it is. And if you ever wonder whether you’re actually talking to me — you’re probably not.

I’ll see you in the markets.
