Every morning, right at the opening bell, I watch just ONE ticker.
Hey folks,
Markets are closed, so I’ll keep this short and simple.
Big picture, August finished with mixed signals. The S&P tagged new highs, but a lot of the market didn’t confirm.
Equal-weight was soft. That tells me to start September steady, not aggressive.
My plan is the same one I’ve used for years: let the first couple of sessions after a holiday do the talking.
If breadth improves and more stocks join the move, I’ll open things up a little. If we slip and can’t reclaim key levels, I’ll stay patient and keep size small.
Nothing fancy here:
- I don’t chase a gap on the first day back.
- I take small wins and protect capital.
- I let the tape prove itself before I press.
If you want one thing to glance at tomorrow morning, make it the relationship between the big tech leaders and the average stock. When those line up, trends travel farther. When they don’t, the chop can wear you out. No need to predict it today. Just be ready to read it tomorrow.
Enjoy the day off. Spend time with family, get outside, and come back fresh. We’ll be back at it in the morning.
If you didn’t catch my Weekly Wrap-Up video, take 4 minutes and watch it now.
It’ll get you caught up on what else I’m watching as September kicks off.
Stay sharp,
— Geof
